Peekaboo and Glory Hallelujah - A Match Made In Heaven

Caleb shows us that you don't need two people to play Peekaboo, and then celebrates by singing his version of "Glory Hallelujah." My favorite part though is when he notices that he's being filmed.

Baby Pancake

A couple months ago when we told Caleb that he was going to be a Big Brother and Mommy was having a baby, we asked him what we should name the baby and he thought about it and came up with "Baby Pancake." Braden and I laughed because he does love pancakes so maybe he would love the baby just as much. Well, since then he has continued to tell people that we are going to name the baby "Baby Pancake." People laugh which makes him think that "Baby Pancake" is a funny name and he continues to say it.
We have been reading books about being a Big Brother and each night he points to the baby in the book and says, "That's Baby Pancake." Then, last night I was sitting on the couch resting and Caleb climbs up on the couch and tells me he wants to talk to Baby Pancake. He pulled up my shirt and started kissing/hugging my belly. Then he sang his A, B, C's to the baby. Lastly, he took off his socks and shoes and "showed" Baby Pancake his feet. I am quite impressed by how much Caleb already loves Baby Pancake and he is not even here yet. It is sweet to see my boys already bonding.

On another note, here are two sweet pictures of my Big Boy.

Fun Weekend Adventures

For the first time in a long time we didn't really have any big weekend plans. So, we just had fun around the house and running our usual weekend errands.

This is what happens with you give Caleb one blue M&M

I needed to return something at the mall so I bribed the boys with dinner at Nordstroms.

This photo is proof that Grandparents let kids get away with too much. Grandma showed Caleb the fine art of eating sugar out of the packets. Now when we go out to each, I have to hide the sugar packets before Caleb sees them and wants some. Yay!
We were doing some yard work and Caleb wanted to drive his tractor.
I am so happy he finally learned how to drive himself. Now we just have to work on steering.

My little monster man tried to spray me with the water hose. I was NOT very happy but he and Daddy laughed.

Just sun bathing

Sunday afternoon we went to Walmart for a couple things.

Caleb told us he wanted to lay down and take a nap.

This lasted all of 2 minutes before he wanted to get out and walk like a big boy.

4th of July 2011

This 4th of July we drove down to see my family in Pearland. We had a great, long weekend. We ate and swam until we could hardly keep our eyes open. Caleb is growing up too fast and it is hard to believe this is his 3rd July 4th celebration; and next year we will have two babies to enjoy the holiday with.

On the drive down to Pearland, I got a funny picture of Caleb

Caleb loved playing football in the pool

Grandma had a bubble gun for Caleb to play with.

He LOVES bubbles

After all the swimming .... Caleb was tired

And he fell asleep snuggling with Daddy

On our drive back to Dallas Caleb kept "hiding" under his blanket

"Where's Caleb??"

"Oh, there he is"

Really Late Post .... Memorial Day 2011

Well, I guess it is better late than never.
Over Memorial Day weekend we took Caleb to the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas. We had a great time. I don't think Braden or I have ever seen Caleb so intrigued with anything in his whole life. He was running around seeing "Look at this, Look at this, Look at this." We will definitely go back again soon.

Caleb & Mommy

They had a great play area at the museum. Caleb was able to run wild and pretend to fly airplanes

They had a tower that you could climb up in and "land airplanes." I tried to take Caleb up but about half way up, he wanted to get out.

Caleb told me he was going to fly me to lunch

Daddy even climbed into the small airplane for a ride

Swim Classes

This last Saturday we started swim classes with Caleb. I was a bit worried going into it because Caleb does not like water in his face. But, much to my surprise, he jumped right in and had a great time.

Learning to float on our backs and kick, kick, kick

At the end of class, the teacher threw some balls in the pool and we were able to swim to them and use the techniques learned in class. Caleb loved to do "blast off" out of the water

Caleb did great in class. He even went under water once with the instructor.

Random Happenings

We have had a busy last month in the Howell House. It seems every weekend is filled with lots of fun and excitement. Here are some recent photos of my little man.

Caleb and I went home to see my parents in May. It had been a while since we had been home and we had a good weekend.

Here is Caleb playing in his kitchen cabinet in my mom's kitchen. He was consistently making a mess and "making" us things to eat.

Grandpa tied Caleb into a pretzel one night and put him into a bowl.
Grandma recently bought Caleb his first pair of Crocs. He has worn them almost every day since he got them. I like them because they are easy to slip back on when he takes them off ... and he LOVES to take off his shoes.

One night over Memorial Day weekend, we all went to the lakehouse to spend time with the Howell Family. It was a lot of fun to spend some time with my favorite niece. He is growing up too fast.

Caleb & Micah

Caleb loved Micah's toy dinosaur. They rode it together and laughed and smiled.

We went shopping at the outlet center near the lakehouse. Caleb "had" to ride in this car, so we gave him a passenger.

Caleb sometimes forgets his is a big boy. He still likes to get his Bumbo out and sit in it. He usually realizes that he is too big but he still asks for me to get it down out of his closet.

While at one of the local malls, Caleb was bribed to eat his lunch and then he got to ride the carousel. He loved every minute and Daddy loved it too.

I was impressed by Caleb's pizza eating skills. I don't think even I could eat this much.

Caleb knows that shopping at Target is one of my favorite things to do. He has learned to lay back and relax while out shopping with Momma.

Back in March, Grandma bought Caleb a lasso at the Houston Rodeo. He still loves to lasso things. The other night, Daddy lassoed Caleb.

Cute Hiney Photo

This is a hydrangea from the plant my mother-in-law gave me when I was in the hospital having Caleb (2+ yrs ago). I am QUITE impressed with myself that the plant is still making flowers and I haven't killed it.
