My Best Friends Wedding

This past weekend my best friend from junior high school, Christen, got married in Fredericksburg, TX. My whole family went down to celebrate the wonderful occasion. It was a beautiful wedding outside in a small courtyard. Christen, the bride, was gorgeous in her dress and Beau, the groom, was quite handsome all dressed up. I was honored to be part of the wedding and part of their special day.

2 Months Old

Caleb is 2 months old today. Wow how the time flies by so fast.
Our little man is growing up and just might be a big bruiser soon. Caleb had his 2 month checkup today and is doing well. He had to get a couple shots which he did NOT like at all. I almost cried looking down on him as he looked up at me with his big, blue eyes begging me to stop the nurse from hurting him. But, we both survived the horrible experience.

2 Month Stats
24" long [+4" since his2wk checkup]
12 lbs 7oz [+4lbs 10ozs since 2wk checkup]
16" head circumference [+2" since 2wk checkup]
The doctor said he is healthy and to keep doing what we are doing so he continues to grow strong. Our next appointment will be at 4 months old.

On a sad note, I go back to work in less than 4 weeks now. I am looking forward to seeing all my work friends again and of course the adult interaction but I am going to miss Caleb so much. I have been with Caleb every day since he was born. It will be hard to leave him for 9+ hours a day to go to work. But, I know he will be in good hands at the day school close to where I work. I can always walk over and visit if I need to throughout the day until I get used to being at work full time again. Please pray that the transition back to work will be smooth for both of us.

A few weeks ago Braden, Caleb, and I had some family pictures and newborn pictures taken. Below are a few of our favorites. Enjoy!

I love how small Caleb looks in this picture
Isn't this the cutest bottom you have ever seen?

Howell Trio Update

So, I have not been good at keeping up with the Family Blog. But, my time is not my own anymore. All my time is devoted to being a mom and wife. It is a full time job and keeping me very busy.

Life in the Howell Household has been crazy.
Daddy Braden: Braden is working hard every day. He gets up early, goes to work, and gets home at a decent hour to spend some time with Caleb and me. I know it must be hard to be away from our precious son all day but he is doing a great job.
Mommy Rebecca: I am enjoying my time off work on maternity leave. It is a blessing to be able to spend the first 12 weeks of Caleb's life with him every day. Caleb loves being out and about so we go on little adventures every day. Caleb is going to learn to love going shopping with me :)
Caleb: Caleb is growing up too fast. He has changed so much in his 7 weeks of life. I am amazed and in awe of him daily. He loves to play, sing, nap, and eat. His big, beautiful smiles will melt your heart.
Lexi: Our little Lexi Dog is doing so good with her little brother Caleb. We were worried she would be jealous but it turns out she is a good protector. She loves to lick his feet when he is crying. I think she thinks it helps calm him down.

Mother's Day 2009
Braden, Caleb, and I spent my first Mother's Day in Pearland with my Mom, Dad and older sister Jennifer. It was nice to get away for a weekend and spend time with my family. My mom got the chance to be a proud new Grandma and show off Caleb to her friends.

New York for 24 hours
One of my sorority sisters from college, Alicia, got married in New York on May 16. Braden and I made the quick trip to New York to be there to see her marry Mr. Adam Rico. It was a wonderful wedding and we are so happy we could make it.

The hardest part of the trip was leaving Caleb behind. It was our first time to be without him for a night (or longer than 3 hours). We missed him terribly but left him in good hands with his Aunt Jennifer (my big sis). We are so grateful to have a sister like Jen to take care of our little munchkin while we were away. I know Caleb enjoyed his time with his Aunt.

Here are some recent pictures of our little man and family. Enjoy!

Braden is part of the Rotary Club of Dallas. As part of the rotary club he is a mentor to a local high school student (Gus). Recently the Mentors & Mentees were honored in an art exhibit. Caleb and I attended the presentation.

Our Future Horned Frog

One night our wonderful neighbor, Donna, made us homemade eggrolls and fried rice. She brought over all the plates, placemats, napkins, candles, etc. It was such a treat to sit down and eat dinner together.

Every once in awhile Caleb has a way of peeing through his diaper and all over the person holding him; Braden got to experience this pleasure recently
